RIP DND Minis

Is it just me or does anyone else really feel peeved and betrayed that DND cut their miniature line? Oh what joy it is to have plastic figures painted by people in third world countries and then shipped to us for our consuming and gaming pleasure. Not making enough? Are you kidding me? I bet they paid next to nothing to the people who were painting them! Who's with me?

  1. I really enjoyed the line of D&D minis. It was the one product I continued to purchase from WotC. They really aren't selling anything I want anymore...

  2. While I stopped buying them direct from WotC, I continued to buy a ton of them off of the second hand market. Heck I still miss Dragon Magazine coming to my mailbox. : (

  3. I really do not lament the loss of another sheaply produced line of prepaints. I've made good use of them, but I recall a time (the majority of theh obby's history) when there were few or no in-house miniatures ofr D&D and we all did fine.

  4. @ Christian - I know what you mean. Though as you have all seen I did get the WoTC tile boxes and still get their maps and dungeon tiles.

@Brutorz - I got them from ebay. I also lament the Dragon Mag. I was sad to see it go. There were so many good things in there and coupled with dungeon back when Paizo did it was really good.

@Eli - I liked them even though they were cheaply made though the older range of dragons and what not was not bad. I have the old ATAT and some of the larger dragon models and use them all the time. Much to the appreciation of my players. In fact tomorrow I am using Tiamat for a seven headed pyro hydra.

  5. I like repainting and rebasing them, but I don't think I'll miss them much. They had some cool big monsters though.

  6. Its sad but at the same time we have so many options to get miniatures for our games that it will not seem so horrible.
